Biography

Anna Nilsdotter was born on February 9, 1819 in Långared, Älvsborg, Sweden. She was the seventh of eight children. In 1841, Anna married Eric Eliason in Östad. They had seven children, three daughters and four sons, together. In 1861, Anna and her family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1863, they left their home in Sweden to join other members of the church in Utah.
The first leg of their journey was on the ship the B. S. Kimball. They left Liverpool on May 8, 1863 and arrived in New York on June 15, 1863. A few weeks later they joined the John R. Young wagon company for the journey across the plains. They arrived in the Salt Lake Valley on September 12, 1863.
Once in Utah, Anna and her family settled first in Grantsville, Tooele, and then in Millville, Cache county. Eric eventually married two other wives. Anna died on March 25, 1899 in Millville at the age of 80.
