Biography
Anna Christina Josephine Jonasson was born on April 8, 1825 in Hulabäck, Alingsås, Älvsborg, Sweden. She was the youngest of five children. Around 1851, Anna Christina married Lars Nilsson. She had two sons with him. However, the relationship seems to have ended before 1856, when Anna married Eric Ericsson Rydqvist. They lived mainly in Älvsborg, Sweden. In 1862, shortly after Anna's third child with Eric, a daughter named Selma, was born, Anna left for Utah. She traveled with Eric, their only living son Elof, and Selma. They sailed on the ship "Electric" from Hamburg to New York, arriving on June 5, 1862.
After arriving in the United States, Anna Christina and her family traveled with the Joseph Horne Company to Utah. They arrived on October 1, 1862. Anna settled in Grantsville, Tooele, where she had four more children, three boys and a girl. Anna lived in Grantsville for many years, and many of her children married and settled there as well. In 1887, Eric died, leaving Anna a widow. She stayed in Grantsville until her death almost twenty years later, on March 30, 1905. She was 79 years old. Anna Christina was buried in the Grantsville City Cemetery.
