Biography
Anna Josephine Iversen, called Annie, was born on September 8, 1867 in Aker, Akershus, Norway. Annie was the fourth of six children. She lived in Olso as a child. On August 7, 1876, she was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1879, she left Norway with her mother and younger brother. They sailed on the ship Albion from Copenhagen to England, then crossed the Atlantic on the ship Wyoming. They arrived in New York on September 16, 1879. Once in America, Annie and her family journeyed by rail to Utah.
Annie married Leonard James Jones, an English immigrant, in November of 1882. Annie was just fifteen years old. They got married in Logan and settled in the area. Annie had seven children with Leonard, two daughters and five sons. When her children were still young, in 1901, Leonard died, leaving Annie a widow. After his death, it seems that Annie relocated to Salt Lake City. It is possible she remarried or took in other children, as in the 1910 census, she is listed with two more children, Leona and Silvia.
Annie stayed in Salt Lake for many years, living with her son Parley for some of the time. At some point after 1930, she may have relocated to Montana. She passed away in Anaconda, Deer Lodge County, Montana, on November 11, 1948, at the age of eighty-one. Annie was buried in Anaconda, Montana.
