Biography
Thora Christence Johansdatter was born on May 8, 1851 in Ă˜stre Aker, Kristiania (modern-day Oslo), Norway. She was her parents' third and youngest child and her mother's tenth child. When she was still young, she moved from Norway to Utah, likely making the journey with her mother.
On February 14, 1877, Thora married Ole Johannes Larsen, another Norwegian immigrant, in Ogden, Utah. The couple settled in Logan, Utah before relocating to Ogden at some point. Thora had five children with Ole, two daughters and three sons, but only two of her sons lived past infancy. In 1882, Ole married Tilda Larsen, who was also Norwegian, as well.
At some point, Thora relocated to Montpelier, Idaho, possibly to be with her son Oliver, who was living there. She passed away in Montpelier on November 4, 1929, at the age of seventy-eight. Her body was brought back to the Ogden City Cemetery for burial. She was buried next to Ole.
