Biography

Elvina Josephine Pehrson was born on September 16, 1881 in Aarhus, Denmark. She was the eldest of thirteen children. In 1884, her parents were baptized members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1888, her father secured a loan to immigrate to Utah, and, a few years later, Elvina, her mother, and her siblings moved to Utah to join him.
Elvina spent time in Pleasant Grove and Tooele growing up. She married Willard George Homer, a native of Smithfield, Utah on August 30, 1899, just a month before her eighteenth birthday. The couple moved to Idaho, where they resided in both Teton and Bingham county. Elvina had ten children with Willard, five daughters and five sons, the youngest of whom was stillborn.
Willard passed away in 1950, leaving Elvina a widow. She stayed in Idaho with many of her children, living a full and active life. She was very involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren and many of them remembered her fondly. Elvina passed away in Boise, Idaho on July 12, 1977, at the age of ninety-five. She was buried in Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park in Millcreek, Utah.
