Biography

Maja Stina Andreasdotter was born on July 19, 1829 in Björkekärr Skogsgården, Alingsås, Sweden. She was the fourth of six children. There are not many records about her early life, but in 1861, she was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1863, she emigrated to the United States on board the B. S. Kimball. She arrived in New York on June 15, 1863.
In 1865, Maja married Eric Eliason in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was his second wife. They settled in Grantsville, Tooele and had three children together, one son and two daughters. Some time later, Maja relocated to Millville and then Logan in Cache County, Utah. Her husband died in Millville in 1895. At some point after 1900, Maja relocated to Oakley, Idaho, where it seems likely she lived with her daughter Edith. Maja died in Oakley on October 12, 1904 at the age of 75. She was buried in the Oakley Cemetery.
