Biography

Inger Maria Larsen was born the sixth of fourteen children to Rasmus and Marie Magdalen Kristine Christensen Raahauge Larsen. When Inger was twelve, her mother became very sick. She prayed all night that her mother would heal, and she did. At fifteen, she left home to work as a nanny where she was first introduced to the church.
In 1882, Inger left Denmark for Utah. She first sailed from Copenhagen to Hull, England, before crossing the Atlantic. Once in Utah, she married Hans Jacob Christiansen as his fourth wife. One of his wives had already passed away. In the following years, Inger moved between Logan and Salt Lake City, raising her four children and helping with the children of her fellow wives. Hans served many missions in Scandinavia, leaving his family without him in Utah for years on end each time. Inger worked hard to support her family during these times.
In 1903, Inger and Hans moved to Salt Lake City permanently, where Hans passed away in 1923. After Hans's death, Inger moved to Los Angeles, California, with her son Hyrum and his family. Hyrum had recently lost his job in Utah and was relocating to work with Veda, Inger's youngest daughter. Inger stayed in California with them until her death on August 25, 1934, at the age of seventy-nine. She was buried in Salt Lake City.
