Biography
Marie Emelie Paulsen was born on August 11, 1867 in Lade, Trondheim, Norway to Marit Jacobsdatter Bøe and Erich Poulsen Vaalen Tarud. She was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1880. Marie immigrated to Utah with her mother and younger siblings in 1882. In 1885, Marie married Irish immigrant Peter Joyce McDonough with whom she had nine children. Marie died on October 18, 1900 in Salt Lake City, Utah at the young age of thirty-three. She was buried in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
